Overview
DCI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Axient Corporation LLC is seeking an introductory Finitie Element Modeling/Analysis Engineer to support current and future development programs with NASA and commercial companies. This position may be eligible for a Hybrid work schedule, part of employees work schedule will be required to be on-site at DCI/Axient facilities in Huntsville, AL.
DCI is primarily focused on supporting NASA and commercial space companies. DCI was a key team member supporting Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in the development of the Space Launch System (SLS) resulting in the successful launch of the Artemis 1 in November 2022.
We also support Dynetics in the develop and manufacture the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) for the Block 1B variant of SLS.
We are looking for an early career engineer focusing on Finite Element Modeling and Analysis to join our team supporting the development of commercial satellites, stage adapters, and spacecraft mechanisms.
Responsibilities
Regular tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Generating Finite Element Models from CAD and drawings.
- Performing Static and Modal Analysis on FEM’s.
- Performing structural stress analyses for spacecraft flight hardware.
- Evaluating simulated and physical test results.
- Documenting models, model correlation, and analysis results.
- Generating detailed analysis reports and presenting/communicating those results with the customer.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Introductory experience in static and structural dynamics analysis.
- Resident of the greater Huntsville area in north Alabama or willing to relocate.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of time.
- Candidate must be a US citizen.
Desired Skills
- Experience with NASTRAN, Femap Finite Element software, or other industry standard modeling and analysis toolsets.
- Familiarity with meshing, static, and dynamic analysis methods.
- Experience with Matlab, Python or other programming language to support creation of in-house tools and scripts
- Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and the customer
