What are the responsibilities and job description for the Printed Circuit Board Assembler I position at Axiom Electronics Llc?

Inherent technical skills and ability, good organizational skills, superior attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential. 

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, performs a wide range of complex and extensive assembly operations on components and subassemblies such that all production meets IPC Class 3 going into final inspection.   This position must perform these responsibilities with an awareness of all ISO and departmental requirements. 

Operator Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in:
    • Hand soldering to IPC 610 and J Std class 3.
    • Component preparation.
    • Taping
    • Crimping
    • Stuffing through hole components
    • Wire and component mods.
    • Hand cleaning circuit board assemblies and other various wash methods.
    • Depanel and sanding assemblies.
    • Electro-mechanical assembly.
    • Etch cuts/drill outs.
    • Labeling and Package assemblies.
    • Performing rework.
    • Board repair.
    • Routine assembly testing.
    • Ionograph
    • Running solder machine(s).
    • Operating Xray machines
  • Perform 1st piece inspection.
  • Maintain quality standards in all aspects of work. 
  • Accurately record and track labor and quality data.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to detect quality defects and correct the process to prevent further recurrence.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships within and between areas.
  • Carry out all duties in a proficient, orderly and safe manner while maintaining a positive attitude and solid attendance record.
  • Follow all applicable procedures and work instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Education: High School Education, or equivalent.
  • Experience:  One to two years related experience.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and vision.
  • Must be able to identify component types.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to frequently lift 25-40 pounds totes.
  • Ability to perform repetitive, detailed work using a microscope and small hand tools.
  • Ability to read and understand documentation (in English) to process circuit board assembly products.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards.
  • Basic computer and math skills.

Qualifications Desired:

  • IPC A-610 and J-STD certification.
  • Knowledge of "lean manufacturing" principles and practices.
