JOB BRIEF
The System Engineer’s responsibilities include product design and development activities associated with system architecture and maintaining complex systems, ensuring they meet functional requirements and performance expectations; they work closely with software developers, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the overall system operates efficiently and effectively; with a main focus on ODM/OEM/EMS products.
ROLE OBJECTIVE
The objective of this role is to lead the consolidation of engineering specifications for new ODM/OEM and EMS projects while aligning with business requirements throughout the product lifecycle. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage the engineering schedule, oversee component selection, and ensure seamless integration of system components. Additionally, the role involves monitoring application performance and implementing solutions to enhance reliability, ultimately driving projects to successful mass production. Provide support to both internal and external parties with a high level of professionalism and in a manner that reflects positively on the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Consolidates all of the engineering specifications in RFQ regarding new Original Design/Equipment Manufacturer (ODM/OEM) and Electronics manufacturing services (EMS) projects.
- Responsible for features or enhancements from conceptualization, requirement gathering, implementation review and release.
- Evaluates technical options and represents business requirements to the engineering organization.
- Develops the engineering schedule and prototype build plan in coordination with the engineering team including component selection, interfaces, and data flow.
- Proactively ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, integrating various system components, ensuring they work together seamlessly.
- Works directly with project/program managers, operations and quality teams to bring the product to mass production stage.
- Monitors and tests application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions, diagnose and resolves system issues, ensuring the system operates reliably. And work with design engineers to implement those resolutions.
- Participates in the design of information and operational support systems.
- Enhances comprehensive products, specific in RISC platforms and field bus protocols.
- Compliance with the Quality Management System is required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
- Preferably with 5-6 years working experience in a similar field.
- Familiar with X86/RISC PC system architecture hardware design.
- Linux savvy. Familiar with standard commands, basic shell scripting, logging.
- Solid working experience with Altium designer/ Allegro/ OrCAD Capture utilities.
- Able to use SolidWorks/PTC Creo to check mechanical drawings.
- Able to perform basic SMT component rework.
- Able to use oscilloscope and other test equipment to troubleshoot.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience engineering and/or program/project management.
- Proven self-initiative, interpersonal skills, and flexibility to adapt to new technology.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, computer science (or equivalent experience)
- Bilingual in English and Japanese is plus.
