The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a robust and multi-faceted volunteer program to further the organization’s mission.

Recruit, train, and schedule services as well as group volunteers. Maintain the Volunteer Database and ensures accurate data tracking and record management.

This is a highly collaborative role that is critical to ensuring the needs of families are met through the power of volunteers, and the volunteer experience is one that keeps people coming back!

Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities :

• Contribute to team efforts by maintaining positive, supportive, and flexible working relationship with staff, volunteers and donors in the mutual pursuit of providing comfort and care to families of seriously ill or injured children being served.
• In charge of creating a best-in-class experience for all volunteers.
• Recruit volunteers for coverage of critical positions to supplement House staff including
• Family Services Volunteers (In House, Receptionists, Shuttle Drivers)
• Food Groups (Meal Makers & Treat Bakers)
• Training plans in place collaborating with appropriate staff who are responsible for the supervision of these positions during the day.
• Work in collaboration with the team to understand the needs of their departments to provide volunteer support. Design the hand-off between departments so the volunteer experience is seamless.
• Responsible for the recruitment and coordination of meal makers and treat bakers based upon the needs of the families. Develop a recruiting plan using multiple strategy.
• Work closely with Marketing to ensure that the website remains up to date with volunteer instruction and visibility to calendar / timing.

Also responsible for the communication pre and post volunteer date.

• Utilize volunteer management software to maintain schedules, records, and events.
• Develop and enforce the process by which all volunteers sign in to enter the House and sign out when their shift or task is completed.
• Collaborate with the Development Team to recruit volunteers from local companies to engage in the mission of the House, including regularly scheduled volunteer opportunities as well as special projects such as room upgrades and landscape / yard clean up, and special events.
• Responsible for the monthly volunteer dashboard & tracking impact of volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinator Qualifications :

To be considered for the Volunteer Coordinator position, applicants should :

• Bachelors degree in related field, preferred
• 3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, project management, or a related field.
• Keen attention-to-detail and highly organized.
• Ability to take initiative, hold yourself accountable and embrace feedback.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to quickly transition between tasks as needed and balance shifting priorities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multi-faceted demands and deadlines.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work well independently as well as adhere to directions from the team.
• Self-motivated and able to regularly complete repetitive, scheduled tasks.
