We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with US Government contracting experience to join our team in Rockville MD. The candidate will use their expertise in F&A to learn and improve current processes and to streamline the F&A function across the organization. This role requires a hands-on senior accountant, who is comfortable doing the work and guiding the team’s efforts, utilizing emerging technologies to improve and automate F&A processing, ability to lead by influence and persuasion, and agility to work within a fast-paced and highly dynamic business environment.
Work Details:
- Preparation and review for monthly reconciliation
- Assistance with month-end and annual close process
- Prepares complex account analysis and makes appropriate adjustments as required.
- Maintain company and subsidiary trial balances and monitor intercompany activity and balances.
- Prepares and monitors standard and recurring journal entries for monthly closing process.
- Gather information and complete required surveys, procurement fee payments, and other government reporting.
- Analyze technical accounting issues (FARs, GAAP, company policy).
- Use expert excel and data analytical skills to conduct in-depth analyses to identify, isolate and resolve complex discrepancies, including performing timely ad-hoc analyses, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Reconciles accounts and investigates any issues in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and labor accounts.
- Prepares bank account reconciliations for company bank accounts.
- Performs other accounting related duties as assigned by management.
- Collaborates with other finance staff and other departments on special projects.
- Identifies potential areas for improvement and provides solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, accounting or finance.
- 7 years of experience working with government contractors.
- Experience leading and supervising Finance & Accounting teams.
- Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Excel– pivot tables, v-lookup, graphs/charts/visual, analytics
- Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in government contracting accounting systems.
- Desired demonstrated adoption of modern tools for business analytics, Power BI preferred.
- Knowledge of Deltek product suite is nice to have.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred
- Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written) with a focus on customer service and demonstrated ability to effectively interact at all levels to build successful relationships.
- Must be flexible and able to thrive in a time-sensitive environment to meet strict deadlines.
