We typically look for people to join in New York, but would love to hear from great candidates who would be happy to work remotely in EST time zone. VP, Finance Description
The VP, Finance will report directly to our CEO, Jason Janicki, and work in collaboration with colleagues as a key member of the leadership team. The VP, Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities, including budget management, financial analysis, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal and external financial reporting and financial compliance.
Responsibilities
- Work with CEO to maintain and continuously improve the profitability and cash generation of the commercial operations of the business
- Work with The Board to establish efficient and transparent management and reporting processes to create clarity about the Company’s operating and commercial performance and greater visibility of future trends
- Develop and execute a plan for strategic improvement in the accuracy, breadth and timeliness of management reporting through more effective use of management information systems
- Manage the day to day accounting and reporting responsibilities of the function, including financial and management accounting
- Preparation of internal financial information and KPIs as needed by the business and other reports and/or financial information required by third parties on a regular basis
- Preparation of annual statutory financial statements and supporting schedules for the auditors, quarterly VAT returns and other HMRC tax compliance and regulatory/external compliance reports
- Cashflow forecasting and active monitoring and management of the cash requirements of the business
- Grow, lead and inspire the finance team to ensure that all business objectives and team KPIs are met. Establish and set team KPI’s
- Oversee the budget process, collecting the inputs, and comparing the company’s actual performance against the budgeted targets.
- Establish strong working relationships across the business to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to and/or obtained as and when required
- Ad hoc project work and financial analysis as required to support the business.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as Financial Controller, FP&A Lead or VP of Finance
- Experience managing and developing finance functions
- Strong FP&A and Reporting experience
- Proficiency of designing/improving systems and processes
- Software revenue recognition
- Strong internal controls and process knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload
- Able to communicate to a variety of stakeholders, effectively ensuring broad understanding
- Proven commercially sound judgment and excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Ability to work closely with a senior management team
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to travel occasionally (UK/US)
