Job Description Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries and maintaining the Company’s general ledger, assisting in the designing controls for the Company’s SOX program. Responsible for ad-hoc accounting, internal controls, and regulatory/compliance, and technical research and analyzing accruals and performing reconciliations.

Responsibilities
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, and process documents
- Review journal entries to properly account for general ledger
- Responsible for monthly accounting close
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly analytical review
- Compile quarterly financial reporting packages
- Prepare or review regulatory reports for the bank
- Prepare/review reconciliations for general ledger accounts
- Assist in integration and automation of financial applications
- Review SOX documentation for accounting and provide best practice guidance
- Provide information and documents to internal auditors, external auditors, and regulators
- Coordinate and gather support for complex accounting projects and reporting initiatives
- Train and mentor Junior Staff Accountants and Interns
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 years' public accounting or 4 industry
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Highly detailed oriented and organized
- Proficiency with use of e-mail, Internet, database, process mapping and presentation software
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, V-lookups, sum ifs and data manipulation
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with privacy legislation
