Job Details:

JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist
CONTRACT DURATION: 13 weeks
SHIFT: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm –OR- 9:30am-6:00pm
LOCATION: New Orleans, LA
ONBOARDING TIME: Expect 3-5 weeks from offer acceptance to start date.

• Documentation of Covid vaccination or medical/religious exemption.
• Copy of diploma for highest level of completed education.
• Two manager/supervisor references who you have worked with in the last two years.

• Upcoming requested time off for the duration of the contract. (April – July 2024)
• Interview availability for the next 7-10 days.
• Resume with last seven years of work history if applicable - all work history gaps of 90 days must be explained.

DETAILS ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking an individual knowledgeable about pharmacy and manufacture assistance programs, insurance coverage (limitations, requirements, eligibility, formularies, prior authorizations, benefits investigations, etc.), ICD-10, HCPCS (J-Codes) codes and determinants of financial need.

JOB DUTIES

• Understand pharmaceutical terminology.
• Work closely with the outpatient pharmacy team in obtaining appropriate clinical and financial information for available patient assistance programs.
• Responsible for providing patients and clinicians with accurate and up to date information regarding assistance programs, insurance eligibility, government subsidies, as well as maintaining a database with accurate patient and assistance program information.

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

Required: High school diploma/G.E.D.

Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree

Experience:

Minimum Required: Two years’ experience in a pharmacy, hospital, or physician practice setting

Preferred: Three to five years’ experience in a pharmacy, hospital, or physician practice setting

License/Certification:

Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
