Job Overview:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Specialist to join our team. The EHS Safety Specialist will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, conducting training sessions, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.

Responsibilities:
  1. Safety Program Management:
    • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
    • Review and update safety policies and procedures as needed to reflect changes in regulations or company operations.
  2. Training and Education:
    • Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, emergency response, and specialized training as required.
    • Provide ongoing education and promote awareness of safety practices through communication, training sessions, and materials.
  3. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
    • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
    • Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  4. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify potential risks and implement appropriate controls.
    • Recommend and implement measures to reduce or eliminate hazards in the workplace.
  5. Emergency Preparedness:
    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response plans and ensure readiness.
  6. Safety Culture Promotion:
    • Promote a culture of safety and awareness throughout the organization.
    • Collaborate with management and employees to resolve safety issues and implement improvements.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an EHS Specialist or similar role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and practices.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10, Lead, Asbestos preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to conduct site inspections, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to various company locations as needed.
