Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Review and update safety policies and procedures as needed to reflect changes in regulations or company operations.
- Training and Education:
- Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, emergency response, and specialized training as required.
- Provide ongoing education and promote awareness of safety practices through communication, training sessions, and materials.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify potential risks and implement appropriate controls.
- Recommend and implement measures to reduce or eliminate hazards in the workplace.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response plans and ensure readiness.
- Safety Culture Promotion:
- Promote a culture of safety and awareness throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with management and employees to resolve safety issues and implement improvements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an EHS Specialist or similar role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and practices.
- Certifications such as OSHA 10, Lead, Asbestos preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct site inspections, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel to various company locations as needed.
