Civil Engineer

As a leader in our industry, we now have over 12 GW of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable energy projects in development, and 32 projects in operation or construction across North America. 

We are seeking an Austin based civil engineer to support the development of our projects across the US.   

Responsibilities 

• Perform preliminary design for Energy storage standalone and Hybrid projects including substation, transmission lines, and collection systems 
• Create detailed initial layout designs for renewable energy plants 
• Create in-house tools and templates for standardization, and reduce effort invested in repetitive tasks 

• Work with in-house developers and real-estate teams to vet prospective land parcels w.r.t. deployment of renewable energy plants 
• Work with supervisor to engage 3rd party engineers performing EPC and Balance of plant design. 
• Support planning and coordinating of internal and external resources for technical due diligence of renewable energy projects. 
• Work with project controls lead to Identify value-add and profitability influencers through technical analysis and preparation of proposals for improved planning and technical requirements. 
• Work with the Procurement team to develop and issue Request for Proposals for engineering work, evaluate the submissions, and make recommendations on selection. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a reputed/accredited university 
• 2 to 3 years of experience in grid scale renewable energy project development or project execution (PV and Energy Storage strongly preferred) 

Skills 

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Map3D (preferrable) 
• Experience with PV design tools such as PVSyst is a plus 
• Understanding of programming to create scripts in VBA/Matlab/Python 
• Strong fundamentals in Civil engineering with the ability to self-perform varied scopes of work 

• Familiarity with 3-phase power systems and electrical equipment
• High level understanding of Grid scale Energy Storage and PV systems

Compensation and Location: 

Salary:  A base salary commensurate with experience. 

Bonus:  An annual bonus will be awarded based on both individual performance as well as the overall success of the business.

Location:  Austin, TX. This is a hybrid role and will require at least 3 days per week in-office.
