Senior Lab Technician

Pay Scale: $32.20-$37.80

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and schedules all exposure studies
• Provide budgetary numbers for annual weathering projects
• Acts as a liaison between Azek Building Products and 3^rd party vendors.
• Arrange for exposure quotes from vendors on all studies
• Set up annual purchase orders via JD Edwards
• Maintains all accelerated weathering instrumentation i.e. QUV’s Xenon’s and calibration devices
• Collects data, publishes technical reports relating to research, development, testing of materials and products regarding weather ability. Provides the data to the appropriate personnel
• Maintains maintenance on all ABP weathering equipment such as spectrophotometer, QUV, Xenon. Schedules annual calibration on weathering equipment.
• Contributes towards continuous improvement in Research and Development area
• Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.  However, this position may directly/indirectly lead additional personnel and multi-functional teams, on a project by project basis.

 Qualifications, Education and Experience:

• Associate Degree in Polymer Science, Materials, Plastics, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and or experience; advanced education and/or related-certification(s), a plus
• One to three years experience in a similar position
• Strong computer skills to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Success in planning, executing and managing projects
• Precise and articulate written and oral communication; ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate individual and group presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate upwardly to top management and downward to a wide range of audiences
• Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
• Work schedule flexibility, with advance notice, to accommodate needs of the business

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must individually lift and/or move up to 75 lbs., occasionally, and 125 lbs. with assistance, infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   In addition, mobility to cover expansive manufacturing facility is required.  Local travel may be required but is infrequent.

Salary : $32 - $38
