PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary objective of this role is to provide support to AZEK's Wilmington operations and facilities in Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) matters. The ESH Specialist plays a crucial role in establishing and upholding an effective ESH Management System to ensure regulatory compliance focusing on applicable environmental regulations and permits. This includes developing compliance programs, facilitating corrective actions, and addressing various ESH requirements within the organization. Strong problem-solving skills and experience are vital for success in this role.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain information systems focusing on environmental management and compliance recordkeeping.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the ESH Management System.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory environmental permits and requirements.
- Manage external consultants, including overseeing proposals, work authorizations, invoices, and work quality.
- Monitor compliance mechanisms and maintain relevant records.
- Lead reviews and evaluations of complaints related to environmental concerns and safety issues.
- Develop management tools and measurement systems to facilitate compliance and regulatory satisfaction.
- Review permitting packages and revisions for accuracy and completeness.
- Compile required regulatory and internal reports (annual, semiannual, quarterly, etc.).
- Manage permitting programs and coordinate with external partners.
- Perform internal and external ESH inspection and audits.
- Collaborate with other departments on corrective actions and reported violations.
- Provide ongoing support for regulatory inquiries.
- Review development plans for compliance and permitting considerations.
- Lead environmental due diligence efforts as necessary.
- Perform other tasks related to ESH as assigned by team leadership.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in comprehending, interpreting, and evaluating AZEK's organizational policies, regulations, rules, and industry standards.
- Demonstrates consistent independent judgment and initiative within established procedures and policies.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and permitting programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management standards.
- Exemplary character and unwavering integrity.
- Strong digital literacy, with a focus on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
- Two years of relevant work experience within the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) field.
- A minimum of an associate degree in environmental sciences is preferred, but equivalent combinations of experience and education will also be considered.
