Azumo, Inc. is seeking a Converting Process Engineer to pursue a position in a fast-paced display and LED technology company in St. Paul/Minneapolis area. In this role, you will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, supply chain partners on product definition, execution and quality assurance. Some key responsibilities include generating and maintenance of process specifications, troubleshooting and technical assistance during the manufacturing process. Roll to roll optical film, rotary material converting, and process engineering experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for various aspects of converting processes, including both manufacturing and R&D activities.
  • Determine and validate the optimal production processes to manufacture a specified part - enter clearly defined manufacturing instructions and process mapping associated with run-plans. Review and appraise current manufacturing process/methods and propose improvements for process optimization.
  • Own tooling management system, including design, maintenance, physical storage disposition and data base maintenance. The role includes machine scheduling, overseeing materials requirements and managing resources for successful pilot and mass production.
  • Production Assistance – constant proactive interaction with manufacturing to provide technical assistance, crisis intervention, continuous process improvement, manufacturing specification, defect and waste reduction. Includes equipment, process and raw material troubleshooting, establishment of statistical process controls. Requires strong interaction skill with Production, Quality and R&D.
  • Product/ Process Improvement – develop continuous process and product improvement through proactive defect and waste control, implementation of statistical process control, method improvements, and cost reduction.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team on new product developments specific to run-plan processes and set up of converting equipment including coordinating project transfer from development phase to mass production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 3 years experience with a mix of roll to roll optical films, materials converting and coating experience.
  • Must be able to travel to contract manufacturers within US and Asia.
  • Strong process engineering experience in developing and implementing manufacturing techniques for specific rotary converting equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills at varying levels of company including supply chain partners.
