Description
Responsible for manufacturing jigs, fixtures, dies, prototypes, machine tools, cutting tools (such as milling cutters and form tools), gauges, and other tools used in manufacturing processes. Apply knowledge of tool design, math, metal proprieties, machining, and assembly procedures. Create blueprints, sketches, tool description, and plans sequence of operations.
This position includes work affecting conformity to product requirements.

Work Area A-Level
Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment. (floors are clean and oil spill/leak are addressed immediately, machines are wiped down daily, inspection gages are clean and orderly, all tools are maintained clean, orderly, and stored on shadow boards etc.)

Part Loading A-Level
Able to ensure surfaces are free of chips and load parts in standard fixtures, vise, chucks, and qualify fixtures. Can identify a defective fixture via wear, damage, loose pins, and poor part fit on fixture.
Advanced Machining Skills
Able to operate the following: manual mills, lathes, drill presses, jig bores, surface grinders, pedestal grinders, machine lapping, and belt sanders. Able to perform basic deburring, hand lapping, hand tapping, and has intermediate cutting tool knowledge. Able to indicate the following: vises, reamers, form tools, drills, chucks, and visually inspect tool for sharpness. Able to perform secondary operations, re-work, and manufacture fixtures.
Inspection Skills A-Level
Able to use and set the following: OD Micrometer, depth micrometer, indicating micrometer, intertest, OD test, Diatest, dial bore, inter micrometer, calipers, height gage, height master, indicators, drop indicators, gage pins, deltronic pins, air gaging, functional gaging, thread gages, comparator, gage blocks, indicator/surface plate to inspect flatness, centerline, height, and V-block inspections. Advanced understanding of ANSI 14.5 symbology, interpretation and application.
Advanced Toolmaking
Able to design and manufacture effective and user friendly holding fixtures/gages/jigs with poke-yoke devices. Able to perform rework to close tolerances, precision grinding, jig boring, honing, and prototype machining. Has advanced troubleshooting skills.
Work Order Processing
Able to read and understand job step information, W/C priorities. Can perform WIP moves, work center log-in, create NCMR's, and maintains material lot integrity.
