Shipfitter
Duties:
- Perform shipfitting tasks in accordance with blueprints, work orders, and specifications
- Measure, cut, and shape metal components using hand tools and power tools
- Fit and align metal components to ensure proper assembly and structural integrity
- Weld or tack weld components together using various welding techniques
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and within budget
Experience:
- Previous experience as a shipfitter or in a related field is preferred
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication techniques and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in measurements
- Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and industry standards is a plus
Skills:
- Proficient in using calipers and other measuring tools to ensure precise measurements
- Ability to work with sheet metal and perform sheet metal fabrication tasks
- Knowledge of various hand tools used in shipfitting, such as hammers, chisels, saws, etc.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting schematics and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues during the fitting process
