Quality Control In-Process Inspector

Job Description

In this position the in-process inspector travels the shop floor taking recent parts from machine operators and checking them against applicable criteria, documents, drawings, and workmanship standards using precision gage measurement equipment. Inspector ensures parts conform visually and dimensionally and record findings. When issues are found, the operator and/or supervisor must be informed so changes can be made to the machine/tooling to resolve issue.

Responsibilities

· Performs in-process and final product inspection

· Assess quality of parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc)

· Maintains documentation/reports/logs of inspection reports in the quality system

· Assists engineering and operations in the investigation of non-conformities

· Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following guidelines/procedures and complying with all applicable regulations

· Assists gage department in ensuring test equipment, calipers, gages and other specialized equipment used in the production are calibrated periodically and are in good working order

· Verification of Serial Numbers & Logs

· Follows Quality Management systems, guidelines, and procedures

· Regular attendance is an essential function of this position as unscheduled absences would create undue hardship to the business in its effect on maintaining production numbers.

· Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

· Must be able to read blueprints

· Proficient use of measurement tools: calipers, micrometers and indicators, etc.

· Good attention to detail

· Excellent visual ability

· Good organization skills

· Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Education/Training

· High school diploma or GED

· Manufacturing experience preferred

· Basic knowledge for GD&T Principles and Practices

· Complete on the job training
