What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Analyst, Salesforce Platform position at Babson College?
The Business Analyst works within the Salesforce Platform and collaborates with subject matter experts, technical experts, project managers and other campus partners and stakeholders to understand, clarify, and document processes, business requirements and technical specifications for Salesforce projects. Specifically responsible for being a “development” member of a SCRUM team, participating in traditional SCRUM Business Analyst tasks (story writing, analysis, review of development work) and ceremonies; and as a key liaison between IT and multiple business teams, defining and documenting systems requirements, assessing functional business needs, and providing training and documentation. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Assess functional business needs and draft detailed requirements documentation for Salesforce solutions as needed. Facilitate the formulation and definition of systems scope and objectives for low to moderately complex projects through research, fact finding and user needs, and understanding of business requirements. Assist with the preparation of status reports and ongoing project status dashboards. Participates in SCRUM tasks such as story writing, analysis, and development work as needed. Work with developers to prepare detailed technical requirements and functional specifications. Help support Salesforce adoption through the development of educational content and training. Participate in working design sessions and capture detailed business use cases. Serve as a liaison and resource to project managers, developers, QA/testing staff, and other project team members throughout each phase of the project to help clarify and/or resolve issues related to requirement specifications. Manage small projects from inception to delivery. Support continuous improvement projects within existing platforms. Assume additional responsibilities as required. YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE: N/A WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Salesforce experience and/or certification required 3 years of directly related work experience, including familiarity with Agile and participation as a member of a SCRUM team. Exposure to and understanding of general PAAS/SAAS practices & standards. Experience working within an enterprise style IT organization. History of collaborating with developers and/or outside vendors on system extensions, customizations, and integrations with third party applications. Ability to translate customer/business requirements into technical specifications to be used by admins and developers. Ability to set and meet aggressive timelines. Experience working within a team environment and independently. Experience in thinking through problems creatively. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to synthesize and interpret technical data. Experience with business analysis tools such as Vizio or Excel Exposure to project planning tools such as JIRA, Microsoft Project and SmartSheets. Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results. Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK: All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any appropriate boosters. Requires some evening/weekend work. Hybrid work, with expectation to be on campus at least two days a week. ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE: Project Management experience preferred.
