UX/UI Designer - Part Time
The Babyscripts team is looking to add a part-time UX/UI designer to our cross-functional product team. As a UX/UI designer, you will be working across the organization to deliver highly engaging and usable features for our maternal-health products, which range from digital education all the way through monitoring mental health for enrolled patients. Our designers are expected to work closely with product managers to understand requirements, and turn those requirements into working prototypes for the engineering team to implement. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering a great user experience and helping soon-to-be moms through their pregnancy.
About Babyscripts
Babyscripts is a maternal digital health organization with the goal of Better Pregnancies for All. We provide a suite of products aimed at increasing access to care and improving outcomes. Our products aid in understanding and assessing risk early in the pregnancy to provide the patient and care team with the information that they need for the best care possible.
The base of the Babyscripts solution is myJourney, a mobile app with thousands of pieces of clinically-validated content, delivered at the right time in the mom’s pregnancy journey. Built onto myJourney are modules tailored to a patient’s risk level to provide the best-fit support for that patient, while providing care providers with greater insight into the patient’s health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Take abstract wireframes and turn them into working experiences
- Work with product managers and technical owners to understand application user workflows and capabilities and create user experiences that will deliver those workflows and capabilities.
- Identify ways to measure the success of the user interfaces our users are interacting with
- Design and build mockups in Figma for hypothesis testing and hand-off to engineers
- Work with the development teams via agile ceremonies to deliver UI redlines for implementation
- Initiatie and support user research to identify and validate user problems and subsequent usability testing programs to vigorously test and refine variations with prototypes
- Maintain and leverage a symbol library in the chosen prototyping framework so that we leverage re-usable patterns throughout our platform.
Required Experience
- Expert experience designing mobile and web UI applications
- Experience coming up with a storyboard, prototyping, deploying to test, modifying, and updating UX workflows to ensure product success
- Prior usage of Figma
- Experience in problem solving
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Eagerness to dive deep into unknown areas with tenacity and relentlessness to learn new things, solve problems, find leading-edge solutions, and take new perspectives when needed
Bonus Points
- Experience in usability testing paradigms like A/B testing, accessibility testing, analyzing end user usage patterns
- Experience in UX design in the healthcare industry
- Pregnancy/maternity UX design experience is highly preferred
Logistics
- The candidate must be able to successfully work remotely. The candidate must have experience designing and establishing a productive, efficient, and balanced WFH routine so as not to detrimentally affect either professional outcomes or personal life.
- Occasionally, the candidate is required to attend in-person meetings, sessions, workshops, and other events with members of his/her team or with customers or vendors.
- Currently, the Babyscripts team is fully remote. From time to time, travel to the DC Metro area or other areas for meetings and/or conferences will be required (post-COVID).
Compensation & Benefits Information:
- Candidate will work as a contractor/freelancer (1099)
- The expected base salary range for this position is $30 to $45 per hour, up to 32 hours per week
- Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications, and geography.
