What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content Copywriter - Bike position at Backcountry?
Copywriter I (Bike) **this is a remote position. Copywriter I is responsible for creating product descriptions and detailing technical features for products across a portfolio of specialty retail sites: Backcountry, Competitive Cyclist, and Steep & Cheap. Rather than simply reiterating catalog and vendor information, product descriptions are expected to demonstrate relevant expertise, educate the customer, and simplify decision making by accurately describing a product’s recommended use and technical or casual benefits. The position requires knowledge of a variety of outdoor disciplines and product types, but mountain biking would be especially helpful. The ability to research and synthesize product information as part of an engaging and informative description, and the ability to identify and appeal to the Backcountry customer base, are all necessary. This position is remote, although some states like California cannot be considered, and you must have an at-home work environment. ABOUT THE JOB: Take ownership of PDP (specs, bullets, descriptions) across all e-commerce retail sites Ability to write in an authentic voice that meets Backcountry and/or Competitive Cyclist’s rhetorical discourse community Ensure each description focuses on the product's unique benefits and contains the technical and use information a customer needs to make an informed purchasing decision Ensure technical specifications for products are accurate and complete, SEO is maximized, and writing complies with in-house style guides Synthesize information from catalogs, vendor websites and representatives, third party resources, and researching product in the warehouse Contribute to the team’s professional development by participating in department meetings and coaching sessions Meet a consistent level of production across a variety of product types, qualitative and quantitative ABOUT YOU: Ability to write excellent, engaging copy is a must College degree in English, creative writing, communications, journalism, or similar field Deep knowledge of the products that we carry and culture surrounding these target markets Demonstrated ability to use tone/voice/story to write product descriptions that are relevant, unique, engaging, and authentic to Backcountry’s brand Understanding of SEO impact and Intellectual Property rights is a plus Experience working within Product Information Management and Jira Ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment at the forefront of specialty retail Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook About Backcountry Seek it.
