Marketing Copywriter I ** This position is onsite at our Corporate Office in Park City. The Marketing Copywriter is well-versed in promotional and marketing copywriting and passionate about the outdoors. The Marketing Writer is responsible for crafting a variety of engaging, unique, and informative writing related to outdoor products and experiences. The Writer must be able to speak to a range of outdoor customers at varying levels of expertise across on-site campaigns, our Explore blog, gear guides, email, social media, and affiliate ads, among other media. The Writer’s work will engage with both technical and lifestyle products in the context of the Backcountry brand in a way that is enticing to both the aspirational customer as well as the dedicated outdoor expert. This is the ideal job for a creative writer with a versatile style, marketing experience, and a dedication to the outdoors. This specific copywriter position spends approximately two-thirds of their time on promotions and one-third of their time on full-price campaigns, including gear guides and seasonal campaigns (e.g., insulated jackets). However, the scope of this specific copywriter position is subject to change as brand and business priorities shift over time. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Write creative, compelling, and on-brand content for a variety of marketing communication pieces. Deliver complete and original copy, with a focus on messaging that achieves company objectives. Collaborate with management, subject-matter experts, and other departments to gather information, understand the target audience, and strategize communication approaches. Has a solid understanding of Backcountry’s products, the outdoor lifestyle, and at least several core pursuits (e.g., skiing, biking, climbing, hiking, etc.) so that key features and benefits are correctly communicated and highlighted. Assist with other marketing channels and marketing projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES: At least 2-3 years of marketing or e-commerce experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities and project assignments High level of proficiency with Google Docs and Microsoft Office Strategic thinker and detail-oriented Passionate about the outdoors and gear Self-driven with a take-ownership attitude PHYSICAL DEMANDS, VISUAL ACUITY & WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The employee is regularly required to communicate with others The employee is frequently required to sit and move about a second-floor office for meetings Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus The noise level is the work environment is usually moderate The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
