Backcountry is seeking an experienced Photo Retoucher with a strong Digi Tech skillset to support the Marketing Photo and Creative Teams. Do you have perfect color vision? Do you sweat the details? Do you light up over cohesive color stories? Do you geek out over metadata and file organization? And do you have experience in high-end digital photo retouching? This role is responsible for executing the final look and feel for imagery across a variety of brand campaigns and marketing channel use in both digital and print. The Photo Retoucher will be a part of the Marketing Photo and Creative Services Team.
About the Job
Support the Marketing Photo and Creative Teams on projects across Backcountry.com, Competitive Cyclist.com, SteepAndCheap.com, and Backcountry’s owned brands.
Provide retouching for studio images (including but not limited to clipping paths, masking, composite images, background smoothing, replacement, or extension, removing items, replacing items, color correcting products and skin tones)
Provide Digital Tech services for Studio Photographer during photoshoots (including CaptureOne set up, filenaming, file organizing and backup, basic metadata entry, and initial color treatment as needed)
Provide consistent color treatment for location imagery and retouching as needed (including but not limited to color corrections, dodge and burn, remove or replace, dust clean up, composite multiple exposures or sequences, attention to skin tone and product details)
Provide final color and retouching for all brand campaigns and various marketing channel uses
Deliver final images optimized for a given output use (I.e. various types of digital and print)
Collaborate on seasonal color treatments
Execute consistent look and feel across all image uses
Adherence to technical photo file management standards
Digital Asset Management (DAM) of imagery
Collaboration with Art Director, Photographers, and Designers
Stay up to date on retouching technology and techniques to best serve the team and the business and provide input on process improvements
Maintain, and update, process standards documentation
Potential for other duties depending on initiative and experience
Qualifications
Must provide: Strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of retouching work with before and after examples
Bachelor's Degree or similar in related photo field or equivalent work experience
2-3 years experience with high-end or commercial photo retouching
2-3 Years experience in a digi tech environment and systems
Expert in photography software including CaptureOne and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Camera Raw, Lightroom, Bridge)
Expert-level experience with retouching and up to date on new and emerging retouching tools and technology
Experience with collaboration tools (such as DAM tools, project management tools, filesharing, and communication tools)
Experience with Microsoft programs, Sharepoint, and OneDrive a plus
Ability to take, discuss, and execute on constructive feedback
Perfect color vision and a strong eye for details and composition
Highly organized, a stickler for following naming standards and file management protocol, with the ability to work on multiple projects in a given time period
Ability to use feedback to enhance and streamline performance and process
Demonstrates flexibility in a fast-paced work environment
