Horticulture/Garden Maintenance Crew Leader

Backyard Havens Gardening and Landscaping is looking for an ambitious person with experience in landscape maintenance to join our team as a Horticulture Maintenance Crew Leader. We are a growing company that has specialized in garden renovations and maintenance for over 15 years in the Madison area. We are dedicated to providing meticulous, personalized garden maintenance services to our clients, both residential and commercial. The right candidate will receive on the job training directly from the owners and then earn more responsibilities and autonomy as they advance their skills. As we are a small company, it is essential that everyone works together as a team to complete projects. This position will help maintain clients' gardens. You will be asked to perform a variety of work, including the following:

• Mulching, pruning and weeding.
• Planting trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.
• Monitoring the health of gardens and plants.
• Applying herbicides and fertilizers as needed (must be certified or willing to become certified).
• Operating handheld power equipment (blowers, hedge shears).
• Driving and loading/unloading small trucks and trailers.

Ideal candidates will:

• Be willing to learn new skills and teach them to others
• Be detail oriented
• Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Be able to work 8-10 hours a day in variable weather conditions.
• Have at least 2 years of experience in the landscape industry.

Our day starts at our shop space which is located south of Verona so reliable transportation is needed. Must be able and willing to work in a variety of weather conditions at both residential and commercial properties. Full time position is considered approximately 40 hours per week and the work week will be four 10 hour days, generally Monday thru Thursday, 7am to 5:30 pm.

This is a seasonal positions, starting in late March and ending in mid December. We do not do snow removal during the winter months but unemployment benefits are available. We offer a competitive wage, educational and advancement opportunities and paid holidays.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
