This role is the primary Enterprise Assurance (EA) business partner for the Civil Space Strategic Business Units (CS, SBU) supporting all proposal, project, and program efforts. The Business Assurance Manager will interface with SBU and Program leadership and peer Strategic Capability Units (SCUs) to ensure that EA is engaged and involved throughout the program life cycle phases to ensure mission success. The Business Assurance Manager will manage and direct matrixed EA disciplines, including technical and administrative support functions, and may provide functional management to one or more department identified CS SBU Senior MAMs.

The Enterprise Assurance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers critical assurance disciplines that protect and enable people, data and missions. We provide a comprehensive approach to managing risk across the enterprise for current and future information environments where the business and missions execute. What You'll Do:
  • Connect with the assigned SBU Mission Area executives and program management leadership to ensure designs, hardware, software and security meet EA and external requirements, with an understanding of mission success criteria.
  • Identify and implement EA department capabilities and subject matter expertise to produce solutions for SBU program, customer, and mission challenges that demonstrate the highest possible value.
  • Lead EA support for SBU new business pursuit and proposal efforts, developing technical approach, right-sizing requirements, generating Basis of Estimates, and managing EA subject matter expertise and support to these efforts from initiation through delivery.
  • Partner with the EA organization in strategic planning and management of capability development efforts, ensuring that SBU specific needs are understood by the department and addressed to the best possible outcome.
  • Support Space Systems Assurance Director in developing and implementing a flexible mission assurance culture and strategy, inspiring a creative solutioning mindset in SBU Mission Assurance Managers in the realization of mission success.
  • Team with Mission Assurance Manager Functional Lead and SBU Senior Mission Assurance Managers to estimate the support and staffing of programs, recruit, and train SBU MAMs, resolve staffing and resource conflicts between programs and, and support EA department initiatives.
  • Lead SBU Mission Assurance Managers in the development and execution of program-unique Mission Assurance programs, inspiring a mission success attitude and supporting as necessary to meet design / test / launch challenges.
  • Perform duties as Mission Assurance Manager for one or more smaller SBU programs or studies, sometimes supporting new program wins through Systems Requirements Review.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities among overhead and program-direct commitments while maximizing the EA benefit to the SBU.
  • Capable of deriving and implementing mission assurance requirements, with or without customer specifications, for successful mission assurance program execution for Space System proposals and programs.
  • Experience performing Cost Account Management for Space System development proposals and programs.
  • Excellent skills in communication, presentation, and negotiation, effectively interacting with company leadership, customers, and governmental representatives at all levels.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and work in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Familiarity with systems engineering and/or quality, reliability, and/or electronic parts engineering disciplines in the Aerospace industry is desired.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $162000 - $223000

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
