The Opportunity
The Equity Analyst is a key member of the Bailard research team. This role will perform fundamental equity analysis to support our portfolio managers across multiple strategies. With a growth at the right price (GARP) framework, this role will be responsible for evaluation of secular growth trends, identification of new investment opportunities, and development and communication of recommendations. Additional responsibilities include outward facing duties including responding to client requests as needed and development of short thematic investor briefs. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a desire to grow into portfolio management responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Perform fundamental investment analysis utilizing a range of valuation techniques
- Identify and analyze secular growth opportunities and derive equity recommendations
- Present equity recommendations to the team in both verbal and written formats
- Collaborate with other team members to publish industry research briefs
- Interact with management teams and sell side analysts and attend industry conferences
- Respond to client questions as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required with a background, experience or demonstrated interest in economics and finance
- 3-7 years of relevant work experience in an investment research role
- Excellent academic record from a top tier university, proven history of curiosity and passion for investing
- Interest in pursuing or progress towards an MBA and/or CFA or similar
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, financial statements and financial modeling techniques
- Strong interest in and/or experience in financial markets
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to translate data into actionable ideas
- Must be self-motivated and able to work in an entrepreneurial environment with autonomy and flexibility
Location
- While currently we are largely working virtually, we prefer candidates be within driving distance of our offices.
- Eventually we plan to return to the office. In-person interaction with colleagues is important to our corporate culture.
