As An Attorney At Baird, You Will
- Work directly with business leaders to negotiate various vendor contracts, real estate leases, product selling agreements and control agreements
- Review and advise senior attorneys in proposed and recently adopted securities and other applicable laws and regulations
- Assist in preparing SEC and other regulatory filings
- Review, as needed, certain foreign country securities laws to determine whether Baird can conduct business with clients located there
- Provide legal support to Baird’s Operations Department on various issues, such as trading, settlement, tax and other matters
- Draft client-facing disclosure documents
- Assist in various projects to implement new regulations and business initiatives
- Conduct research, analysis and other assistance on various securities and other legal topics and projects
- Develop a deeper understanding of securities laws
- Perform other duties as assigned

- One to three years of experience working for law firm or in-house legal department on corporate, transactional, securities and/or contractual matters, or working for a securities regulator
- Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, preparing client disclosures, reviewing regulatory filings and analyzing and preparing summaries of laws and regulations
- Rigorous law school coursework and demonstration of strong academic achievement; graduation in the top 15-20% of the graduating class or the receipt of honors (or similar awards or recognitions) and law review membership preferred
- Experience or familiarity with securities laws and broker-dealer operations
- Intellectual curiosity, adaptability and self-initiative to learn and improve professional skills
- Strong research and analytical talents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adept at use of computers and various applications (e.g., Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organization skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines at any given time
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other team members and managers
- Maturity and dependability to work productively, efficiently, independently and autonomously, without much supervision and management of work deadlines
- Strong judgment and creativity and eagerness to develop creative solutions to challenging business goals
