Summary
The Accounting Supervisor has a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our client’s financial records. In this role, you will be instrumental in reviewing client’s financials, assisting with quarterly and annual reporting, streamlining processes, new client onboarding, and providing valuable insights to drive informed decision-making. The Accounting Supervisor is crucial to the success of our organization and will collaborate with the entire team to ensure that the overall goals of the organization are achieved.
Essential Functions
- Attentively listen to team members’ inquiries or requests for assistance, be available to assist with common bookkeeping and payroll questions, recognize when it is appropriate to escalate matters to a Manager
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements, automation, and efficiency improvements within the organization to optimize existing procedures; collaborate with management to ensure that best practices are established and maintained
- Supervise client onboarding process by building a project plan, maintaining project progress, coordinating with clients to obtain information and answers to questions, facilitating seamless integration into the company’s standard bookkeeping procedures, converting bookkeeping to a monthly process, and documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including bookkeepers and management to ensure accurate flow of financial information.
- Take on a versatile role, handling a wide range of tasks to actively contribute to the company’s growth
- Responsible for reviewing and preparing 1099 report packets, quarterly payroll reporting and business property tax statements
- Complete common and advanced bookkeeping tasks which include, but not limited to, processing payroll, paying bills, entering financial transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, invoicing, collections, organizing client records, balance sheet management
- Be the subject matter expert for all payroll related activities, including payroll conversions, urgent payroll concerns, quarterly payroll reporting deadlines, employment audits, etc. with a focus on training other team members to assist with accomplishing these critical tasks
- Must be able to work independently with limited support from management team, multi-task and handle a variety of responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of all company, client, employee, and financial records
- Correspond with clients, vendors or third parties to successfully resolve concerns or issues
- Foster a culture of open communication, mutual respect, and continuous improvement within the team
- Must have in-depth knowledge of firm products and services, including flat rate billing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field or five years’ experience in bookkeeping
- At least three years of bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks or QBO
- Ability to read and interpret financial reports such as balance sheet and income statement
- Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook at a minimum), accounting software, dashboards, databases, QuickBooks, etc.
- Experience managing a paperless environment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Team player with a positive “can-do” approach
- Organized, detail oriented, efficient and thorough
- Demonstrated history of success and client satisfaction
- Strong and innovative leadership and project management skills, including the ability to mentor other team members
