POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager – Capital & Indirect, the Buyer – Capital & Indirect will in general be responsible for tactical execution of sourcing and procurement functions within company-wide capital projects as well as data management, research and analysis in support of the Capital & Indirect Purchasing group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adheres to approved policies and procedures to ensure that the assigned procurement functions are accomplished consistent with Corporate operational and financial standards and within nationally recognized purchasing practices.
- Operates in strict adherence within Corporate guidelines on business ethics and safety policies.
- Supports project teams with vendor market analysis and supplier landscape studies to ensure qualified and acceptable vendors are included in the project RFx processes.
- Assists the Purchasing Manager – Capital & Indirect and the Senior Buyer – Capital Equipment & Services in the RFx processes (RFI/RFP/RFQ) with vendors in support of the project team's requirements as needed.
- Assists the Purchasing Manager – Capital & Indirect and the Senior Buyer – Capital Equipment & Services in coordination with key stake holders to provide analysis of vendor proposals and negotiation of the best possible deal for equipment, materials and services, considering the quality, service and price for each proposal.
- Supports project teams in ensuring sourcing activities projects employ approved vendors in consideration of company-wide supplier compression objectives.
- Manages data and systems related to supplier performance monitoring and reporting while coordinating with company finance functions.
- Utilizes effective administration of the purchasing system, using current ERP, document management, and purchasing information systems.
- Manages the issuance of transactional documents as related to capital equipment and services procurement.
- Supports local buyers, engineers, plant managers, and other stakeholders in purchases of equipment and services as needed.
- Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards. Works to advance and promote the safety culture of the site.
- Acts as a liaison between assigned suppliers and involved departments to resolve Procurement related problems.
- Develops influential and positive stakeholder relationships across the group.
- Supports the use of e-sourcing tools in online bidding processes and reverse auctions.
- May act as a delegate for the Senior Buyer – Capital Equipment & Services in specifically assigned activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prefer at least two (2) years of business experience in a manufacturing environment. Chemical industry experience a plus.
- Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in engineering or information systems technology.
- High level of expertise in data management and analysis processes using Power BI (preferred), MS Excel, data export and import, graphing, databases and the formatting and presentation of analysis results.
- Prefer experience in preparing and managing e-sourcing tools used to run online bidding and reverse auctions.
- Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
- Exposure to MRP/ERP systems.
- Proficient with MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio.
- Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory.
- Solid decision-making skills.
