Baldwin Youth Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Executive Director.

Baldwin Youth Services, Inc. (BYS) is a Community Based Corrections Facility and Intervention Center. We operate three group homes for Baldwin County children in need of services. BYS has been in operation for over 45 years and has worked in collaboration with Baldwin County Juvenile Court and other community service providers since the organization’s inception in 1977.

As Executive Director, you will play a crucial role in leading our organization towards success in serving the children and families entrusted to our care. Your exceptional skills in provision of services to youth and families, abilities to develop and maintain community partnerships, strategic planning, crisis management, operations management, and strong leadership skills will be instrumental in driving our organization forward to fulfill its’ mission.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in the field of social work, psychology, administration or related field AND a Graduate degree in the field of social work, psychology, administration or related field is required for this position. The highest level of licensure associated with degree is required, such as LICSW or the equivalent. A minimum of five years successful full-time, paid employment providing services to families and children, including progressively responsible administrative and/or supervisory experience, is also required for this position.

Applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check once hired and must be able to obtain clearance through the Alabama Central Registry for child abuse and neglect. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license. Many of our youth and/or parents speak English as a second language, so bi-lingual applicants are encouraged.

Applicant must have good communication skills and be able to work well with staff, juvenile probation officers, family members, and other community service providers in order to assure that the best interests of the children are served. Applicant must be able to engage in a positive, but firm manner with our staff and youth and have great skill in managing people. Applicant must have basic Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, must be able to manage paperwork, and must be thorough with documentation.

Job description:

The Director oversees all operations within Baldwin Youth Services and will be the main point of contact for the organization. The Director’s duties include, but are not limited to: acting as administrative officer; submitting monthly and other required reports; supervising the staff and general operations of the homes; establishing and maintaining lines of communication with various community service organizations, court officials, and local law enforcement agencies; assisting the funds administrator in preparing the annual budget and supervising the expenditure of funds; working with the Board of Directors and child intervention workers as a part of a team; conducting staff meetings regarding policies, procedures, and other training matters; maintaining knowledge of State licensing standards, operating policies, and personnel policies; completion of all annual/biannual/biennial grant and licensure applications, site visits, reports; intervening with youth who have been placed at the facility and effectively dealing with the youth and their parents/guardians/family as to prepare them for reentering his/her home and community; administering policies of the Board; assuring accurate records are kept on all personnel, youth and activities; collaborating with the Board of Directors with regards to strategic planning and program expansion and implementing and overseeing Board directives and initiatives; overseeing all staff; hiring/firing and training of all employees; preparing payroll; delegating duties to appropriate staff and scheduling staff for all shifts; complete training to maintain professional licensure in accordance with State licensing Board; being on call for emergencies and other issues that arise within the group homes or BYS facilities; and working non-standard hours.

This is a full-time salaried position with a generous benefits package. Sick time and personal time are earned on a monthly basis. Position also provides a generous amount of paid holiday time off and offers a flexible schedule with the understanding that the position requires non-standard work hours. Executive Director operates with a great deal of autonomy, but reports to Board of Directors Executive Committee.

A relocation incentive is available for this position.
