Material Project Manager I

What You’ll Do:


  • Manage and facilitate material execution through all phases of electronics projects in a manner to meet schedule need dates including: draft Bill of Material release and buy flag implementation, Program Approved Parts List approvals, part master requests, MRP implementation, purchase requisition generation/assignment, request for quote and purchase order issuance, supplier lifecycle, receiving and inspection, component screening (destructive physical analysis, particle impact noise detection, radiation lot-acceptance testing, etc.), parts fabrication, component processing (cleaning, bake-out, etc.), and other activities.
  • Proactively manage execution through Parts Approval Process: PMPCB, NSPARs, SOW/SID/SIL/AID; supplier support, coordination of logistics for parts processing, set up conops for parts processing, managing buy flag interface, PAPL approvals.
  • Proactively manage demand entry and flow through MPR system: ensure proper demand is entered, ensure demand is properly flowing through to buy and make parts, ensure proper lead times of make assemblies and MQA time, ensure buy parts either have proper lead times.
  • Ensure effective communication, accurate prioritization, and clean hand-offs between the cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular reporting of status and issues; facilitate and drive cross-functional action to efficiently resolve issues and develop workaround plans when needed (Bill of Material changes, part master requests, alternate parts, etc.).
  • Report material cost analysis to Project Engineers and Functional Managers.
  • Review kit dates for accuracy after PO award to ensure schedule is feasible and meets agreed upon PO dates.
  • Understand roles and responsibilities and hold cross-functional team members accountable; escalate help needed to pertinent Project Engineers and Functional Managers as needed to drive execution.
  • Provide project oversight and quality reviews, coordination of deliverable sign-off, and project reporting.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the processes, systems, and data related to material execution.
  • Execute multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support electrical project engineer on various other material management tasks as required by the program.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


What You’ll Need:


  • BS/BA in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience in project management, engineering, manufacturing, and/or supply chain preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage project teams indirectly in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Project Management Certifications are highly desirable (PMP, CSM, Lean Six Sigma).
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems functionality and their benefits.
  • Good knowledge of integrated supply chain lifecycle value stream and processes.
  • Customer- and relationship-focused, process-driven, metric-focused, results-oriented, organized, self-directed.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders representing a broad range of functions and levels; use informal networks to break down barriers and facilitate work activities where necessary.


Flexible On-Site Work Environment:
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:


  • HIRING SALARY RANGE:
    $75,000 - $102,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
