Technician I - Metal Finish
At the Ball Aerospace Manufacturing Center (AMC) location in Westminster, CO, we develop and manufacture state of the art tactical technologies including low profile antennas, electronic warfare platforms, electro-optical laser imaging, and phased arrays. Technological developments are driving rapid expansion of our manufacturing capabilities to support customer demands. You will get to work with state-of-the-art military, space, and tactical equipment. The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and allows you to contribute to impactful projects with exciting missions. Working alongside highly skilled people including planners, engineers and technicians where there is space to learn and grow. This position will support the Westminster manufacturing shops in scheduling hardware for manufacturing operations. You’ll be an important and integral part of the team driving operational excellence.
This position is intended to provide operations for the Metal Finish work center. The primary assignment will be in the Metal Finish Lab; however, cross-training and flexing to the other work centers will be a core responsibility of this position.
What You’ll Do:
Review engineering drawings and provide feedback to designers on materials selection, producibility, and process specifications.- Help investigate new tools, equipment, and advanced manufacturing techniques to lead the operations into the future.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and other documents for each work center to ensure operational excellence.
- Apply professionally accepted manufacturing engineering techniques, practices, and procedures to our environment.

- Perform proprietary process to chemically etch materials for bond/paint including aluminum.
- Ordering operational chemicals, and daily consumable and tracking consumption.
- Assist in the maintenance, preventative maintenance, and operation of lab equipment and plant wastewater processing equipment.
- Read, comprehend and perform technical processes as defined by specification or standard.
- Analyze, reduce and record data. Perform mathematical calculations as required.
- Initiate emergency procedures in case of power failure; recognize safety hazards, including hazardous materials, and pursue corrective action when necessary.
- Will apply an intermediate level of knowledge and skills related to PAB fabrication, chemistry, and chemical processes.
- Will be required to apply basic computer skills to input and access data via computer interface.
- Work will typically be self-inspected for completeness and accuracy before signing-off on Metal Finish Lab manufacturing operations.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree.- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
