Title: Purchasing Co-op
Ballard Power Systems require one co-op student (8-month term) to assist with purchasing electrical and mechanical components for our current and upcoming projects as well as lab supplies and consumables.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain quotation (RFQ) from suppliers through email and/or by phone
- Enter purchase requisitions (PR) into enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
- Work with Procurement and suppliers to follow-up on purchase orders (POs) and inform requesters of estimated arrival times for purchased materials
- Perform monthly credit card reconciliation
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, the Receiving Team and Suppliers to resolve issues and discrepancies
- Facilitate and oversee the transfer of materials to contractors and between facilities
- Support the development of lab consumables inventory system
- Assist in developing continuous improvement on purchasing process
- Manage and update the supplier information database
- Execute return to vendor (RTV) and warranty repairs/replacement when needed
Requirements:
Students from the following disciplines are appropriate for this opportunity:
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration majoring in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management
- Knowledge of purchasing, logistics, and supply chain management
Key skills include:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and good listening skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decisive manners
- Strong administrative skills
- Attention to details and highly organized
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Basic understanding of ERP systems
- Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
