Development Officer and Educational Grant Writer
Baltimore Teacher Network is currently searching for a full-time nonprofit development officer and educational grant writer to work with our team. The ideal candidate will research grant opportunities, write letters of inquiry, and compose and submit full proposals to generate operational revenue to further the mission of Baltimore Teacher Network and its charter school, ConneXions. This individual should have a solid track record of securing significant grants and be familiar with K12 education.
This role is ideal for an innovative thinker, who is proactive and can work as part of a team as well as independently with a solid track record of fundraising and grant writing. This position has the opportunity to create and build a fundraising program for a non-profit that has untapped potential and is ideal for someone who really wants to make a difference. The organization is ripe with an active and diverse board, and an Executive Director ready to take the organization to the next level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform research on existing and prospective major corporate donors, philanthropic foundations, and local, state and federal grant opportunities.
Grow and optimize a robust grant pipeline over the long term, developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Meet with Baltimore Teacher Network and ConneXions’ staff to gather information needed for letters of inquiry and grant proposals
Maintains annual grant calendar with operating or project focus details, deadlines, reporting requirements, recognition, etc.
Prepare and submit all general operating requests such as letters of inquiry and grant proposals to existing funders.
Partner with programming staff to complete the grant requests, fulfill grant contracts, and data points for program reporting, grant expenditures, and final reports.
Assist the Executive Director with maintaining relationships by inviting funders to events, tours, and lectures and providing appropriate impact updates.
Present information to funders and attend networking events to cultivate relationships with funders.
Leverage organizational success stories that can be effectively used in development materials, grant proposals, and fundraising appeals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience required:
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years of experience and provable track record in successful grant research and writing.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders including physicians, administration, other staff, and funders
Demonstration of attention to detail, accuracy and excellent organization.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to work under pressure and deadlines.
Background in writing grants for K12 schools and nonprofits a plus
Samples of a grant written will be requested during interview
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $70,000.00 per year
