Developer

Bangor Publishing Company is seeking an experienced full time Developer. The Developer will reinvent how the company thinks about and runs its systems and maintains bangordailynews.com. This individual will develop and maintain customer-facing applications that support BDN products & services.

Job Responsibilities include:

• Using evidence-based data, build tools to develop products that change user habits for the better with technology.

• Work with departments throughout the BDN to gather requirements and design, develop & implement products and solutions people will use.

• Identify and fix inefficiencies and predict infrastructure growth needs.

• Responsible for the correctness, completeness and workability of all products developed, including documentation, testing and maintenance.

• Reliably sets reasonable expectations around complexity and time to delivery for products.

• Responsible for seeking out and participating in continuous professional growth and development.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• Expertise and hands on experience with web applications and programming languages such as Wordpress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery , SQL and API's.

• Database migration experience.

• Google analytics experience.

• Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, cross-device general web functions and standards.

• Strong customer service skills internally and externally; polite, personable, and positive.

• Strict attention to detail

This is a full time salaried position that will require some on-call work.

Bangor Publishing Company is a 4th generation, family owned media company based in Bangor and operating statewide in Maine. We publish the Bangor Daily News, Bangor Metro magazine, 6 community weeklies and 6 websites. In addition, we operate Print Works, a commercial printer and Pulse Marketing, a full-service advertising agency.
