What is Bankable?

Bankable is a nonprofit lender that seeks to create opportunities for all entrepreneurs in Indiana by providing access to capital, financial education, and economic resources to build healthy small businesses.

The Bankable team works with entrepreneurs at any stage of business to build their credit, secure capital, increase financial literacy, and grow sound business foundations to make them Bankable for the future. Being Bankable means that we work to finance, educate, and support small business owners with the goal of getting them to the point where their credit, financial standing, and business know-how qualifies them for traditional funding.

Position Details:

Title: Underwriter

Reports to: Director of Underwriting

Hours: 40 hours/week between 8a and 5p, Monday – Friday

Location:  2705 Enterprise Drive, Anderson, IN 46013

Responsibilities

The Underwriter position will support Bankable’s small business clients and applicants through general credit analysis and loan processing.  Responsibilities may include:

Underwriting

• Conduct credit and risk analysis for loan applications 
• Read and comprehend financial statements, creating cash analyses and spreads
• Participate in discussions with senior underwriter and loan officers to contribute thoughts, opinions, and questions regarding appropriate loan structures.
• Collaborate with loan officers to gather additional information or documentation from clients, as needed, to ensure thorough analysis of loan applications.
• Evaluate collateral offered by clients to determine its adequacy and valuation in relation to loan requests.
• Assess the feasibility of proposed business plans and strategies presented by applicants, considering market conditions and competitive landscape.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Passion for using finance as a tool for social impact.
• Experience in underwriting is preferred but not required.
