Day to day responsibilities typically include:
- Operate and maintain survey equipment
- Set up equipment, stakes, hub, etc
- Keep survey field notes and download field data collectors and GPS receivers into computers
- Read and interpret legal descriptions
- Research public records
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications Requirements:
Candidates must have the following essential qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Surveying Technology or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Valid driver’s license without violations that would hinder insurability
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Capable of performing physically laborious tasks (e.g. sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting); reasonable accommodations can be made as needed
- Knowledge and training in: Survey principles and practices
- Cartographic methods and standards
- Operation and maintenance of survey instruments
- Experience with:
- State Plane Coordinate Systems and map projections
- NavStar Global Positioning System
- Demonstrable skills in:
- COGO, CAD, and GPS software
- Math (algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and statistical analysis)
- Reading / interpreting design plans
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with coworkers and the general public
- Self-motivated
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
