What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Supervisor position at Banyan Treatment Center?
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing a schedule of specialized individual and group therapies for those clients whose diagnosis includes the presence of an alcohol and/or other drug abuse or dependence diagnosis. He or she is responsible for oversight of the general day to day clinical and direct supervision of Program Therapists. He/she functions under the guidance of their licensure, registration and/or certification and in accordance with the regulations, rules, and requirements of practicing state and Federal government and accrediting organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts to coordinate all services in absence of clinical director
- Assist Clinical Director as needed with all duties.
- Adhere to the Policies & Procedures, codes of conduct and ethics, and philosophy of Banyan Treatment Center to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Participate in Clinical policy and procedure development and training.
- Knowledge of administrative, personnel and clinical policies and procedures, and ability to comply and communicate these clearly and accurately to staff.
- Ensure adherence to clinical best practice throughout agency.
- Initiate appropriate counseling and disciplinary action for infraction of policy in accordance with established policies and procedures..
- Provide a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and patients.
- Maintains an effective clinical organizational structure and delegate’s authority for completion of responsibilities.
- Functions as leader of multi-disciplinary Clinical Treatment Team/staffing meetings in absence of Executive Director/Clinical Director.
- Delivers direct patient services, such as primary therapist, performing individual and group therapist sessions, and documentation of events, as needed.
- Completes Bio-psychosocial, Integrated Diagnostic Summary, and Discharge Summary with patients, as needed.
- Provides for staff development (i.e., supervision, educational, etc.)
- Facilitates communication with ancillary services and facilitates case management services.
- Recruits and interviews new employees.
- Attends clinical and administrative meetings to integrate inter-departmental sharing of information.
- Develops and implements staff schedule.
- Works Collaboratively with the Senior Management Team.
- Knowledge of emergency procedure; ability to communicate these clearly and accurately to staff.
- Displays ability to direct and supervise clinical staff and activities.
- Evaluates clinical staff based on specified performance standards, on a timely basis.
- Initiates appropriate counseling and disciplinary action for infraction of policy.
- Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
- Assists in formulating standards for patient care.
- Collaborates with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
- Evaluates patient care weekly by assessing patients.
- Participates in the formulation and implementation of patient treatment plans.
- Aware of staff strengths and limitations and makes assignments accordingly.
- Be effective in finding needed resources
- Completion of weekly random clinical chart audits.
- Completion of QA and Compliance reports for PIC.
- Maintain clinical records according to program policies and those of licensing and accrediting agencies
- Use good clinical judgment in moving patient through treatment levels
- Demonstrates ability to work with Substance Abuse clients.
- Supervise clinical activities, assuring comfort and safety of the patients.
- Take part in weekly team meetings.
- Attend monthly clinical team meetings.
- Contribute to effective teamwork by combining skills and energies in a coordinated manner, keeping a positive interaction and building a sense of community and high morale within agency.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professional and caring attitudes and behaviors toward co-workers, patients, and guests.
- Ensure that all services and documentation requirements are delivered within required time frames including Utilization review needs.
- Complete performance evaluations on time and create/provide growth plans for supervises.
- Provide and coordinate ongoing provision of Clinical On-Call services in addition to being available for off-hours crisis, and other non-crisis and disaster response needs.
- Work with Clinical Director to arrange professional staff coverage to meet the needs of the organization.
- Maintain up to date Competencies
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or health-related field.
- A minimum of 2 years management setting familiarity, with Performance Improvement and JCAHO standards necessary. Communication skills to relate to all levels of management staff. Self-motivated and confident application of continuous Quality Improvement/Performance Improvement philosophy and ability to develop organizational strategy.
- Licensed to practice in applicable state required.
