Overview

The Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) serves for all of Baptist Health Care.  The position serves four major capacities regarding health information technology (HIT) 1) physician use and adoption of clinical applications (ex: EMR) and training as needed, 2) registry and data analytics development/support , 3) governance and leadership,  4) planning and system design. The position acts as a key contact for employed and affiliated practice providers associated with BHC in hospital, ambulatory and physician practice settings of care.  Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the CMIO, an actively practicing physician, that is data driven, leads and/or participates in physician and clinical advisory groups, provides topically pertinent input in all such forums, and facilitates the use, optimization and strategic evolution of clinical information systems and their co-dependent business systems through continual and direct interaction with leadership and patient care providers (physicians, midlevel practitioners, nursing staff, ancillary department personnel, information management personnel, other clinical professionals).   The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited college or university and seasoned medical practice and leadership experience within in a large hospital or health care system. Board Certified in area of specialty. Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Healthcare Administration, and/or Certified Medical Director through the American Medical Directors Association is preferred.
  • Five to seven years of respected physician practice (preferably within the Pensacola community) with proven leadership and facilitation skills within the medical community.
  • Current MD or DO Florida License. Certified in Clinical Informatics is required
  • Respected and approachable leader with high ethical standards. Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse personalities. Strong facilitation skills with a mature sense of priorities and solid practical experience, cognizant of the need to design and implement systems that work within the boundaries of existing technical capabilities. Creative thinker with high energy and enthusiasm possessing the ability to promote concepts of collaborative work groups versus individual performance. System thinker within depth operational knowledge of acute and ambulatory practice settings. Financial thinker possessing sophisticated grasp of health enterprise financing complexities and fiduciary responsibilities. Change agent who delivers completed initiatives on time and within budget. Keen interest in clinical information systems, performance improvement, quality and outcomes measurement. Politically savvy with a high tolerance for ambiguity and shifting priorities. Stays abreast of major trends in health care and managed care and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools. Ability to work successfully in a matrix management environment. Proficient In data mining and reporting. Fluent in the development of data models and dashboard using industry tools
