What are the responsibilities and job description for the REGISTERED NURSE- PRE SURGERY position at Baptist Health Care?
Overview
The Registered Nurse-Pre Surgery provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. He/She manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. He/She collects data on patient medical/surgical history, medication history, and current prescribed treatment. He/she collaborates with multidiscipline in order to optimally prepare the patient for their surgery/procedure. The Registered Nurse-Pre Surgery must possess high level critical thinking skills; the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and communicate effectively at all levels of communication. The Registered Nurse-Pre Surgery works under the supervision of the Charge Nurse & the clinical manager.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications
- Must have ASN degree or Nursing Diploma
- One year experience as an RN in a hospital setting or outpatient medical office setting is required
- Current RN license in the state of Florida
- BLS through American Heart AssociationDemonstrated proficiency in perioperative nursing, knowledge, and skills
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to changes in patient status, department workload
