Barbaricum is seeking an experienced Senior UI/UX Designer to help lead and define the Data Analytics product experience across the Condition Based Maintenance applications for the USMC portfolio of products. This individual will bring a strong combined experience in UX (User Experience) design, UX research, journey mapping, rapid prototyping/wireframing, creating personas, interaction/visual design, usability testing, analytical skills to deliver user-friendly, novel, and intuitive digital experiences.


This position has limited telework options, with personnel required on-site three days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and Define Product Experience: Spearhead the design and definition of the user interface and user experience across the Conditions Based Maintenance plus (CBM ) portfolio, with a specific focus on dashboard UX/UI.
  • Conduct User Research: Plan, facilitate, and analyze user research activities, including but not limited to interviews, surveys, and field studies, to gather insights into user needs, preferences, and behaviors.
  • Develop User Personas and Journey Maps: Create detailed user personas based on research findings.
  • Develop journey maps to understand and document the user's experience and interactions with the dashboards.
  • Prototyping and Wireframing: Create detailed wireframes and prototypes of dashboard designs to visualize and communicate design ideas to stakeholders and users for feedback.
  • Design Information Architecture: Structure and organize information on the dashboards in a logical and user-friendly manner, ensuring easy navigation and quick access to information.
  • Visual and Interaction Design: Develop the visual layout and aesthetics of dashboards, including typography, color schemes, and interactive elements, to enhance usability and user engagement.
  • Perform Usability Testing: Plan and execute usability testing sessions, analyze user feedback, and iterate designs based on findings to improve dashboard usability and user satisfaction.
  • Optimize Data Visualization: Design and implement effective data visualization techniques, selecting appropriate chart types and visual elements to make complex data understandable at a glance.
  • Ensure Cross-Platform Consistency: Design dashboards that provide a seamless user experience across various devices and screen sizes, adapting design elements as necessary for consistency and functionality.
  • Collaborate and Communicate with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders, providing clear design specifications and guidance. Communicate design concepts and decisions effectively to ensure alignment and the successful implementation of dashboards.
  • Stay Abreast of UX Trends and Technologies: Continuously research and apply the latest trends and technologies in UX/UI design, data visualization, and dashboard development to innovate and improve product offerings.
  • Advocate for UX Best Practices: Serve as an advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization, educating and influencing stakeholders on the importance of UX in product development.


Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance is required
  • Bachelor's Degree is required; degrees in graphic design, fine arts, human-centered interface design, or related field preferred
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience planning, facilitating, analyzing user research, rapid prototyping, and usability testing
  • Experience in Information Architecture, Journey mapping, blueprinting, and interaction design experience
  • Proficiency with relevant tools such as Figma or Adobe XD for creating wireframes or clickable prototypes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills


Experience That Will Set You Up For Success
  • Proven experience designing modern data visualizations, including appropriate chart/diagram selection
  • A passion for simplifying complex problems and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, or related field
  • Experience in Agile, Jira, Scrum and DevSecOps
  • Proficient understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or visual design software
  • Experience documenting product requirements and improving governance workflows
