As a Barclays Developer, you will be driving strategy and transformation in USCB Platforms, focusing on building and transforming API platform to facilitate business growth, commercial opportunities, stability and efficiencies. You will be driving the development and implementation of next generation technology architectures, designs and overall end to end solutions for Apply platform. You will also be defining and building transformation strategy and developing execution through Agile frameworks for USCB Apply platform.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

•    Researching and building transformation strategy and develop execution through Agile frameworks for USCB Apply platform
•    Designing and developing strategic engineering solutions to move towards a SaaS/PaaS solution including but not limited to Cloud adoption
•    Partnering with wider Operations and Technology (O&T) community to deliver technology solutions, patterns and code-level blueprints
•    Researching relevant technologies and demonstrate their benefits by developing POCs where necessary
•    Providing stewardship at critical junctures during implementation, ensure preservation of design intent in code and lead architectural code reviews
•    Programming Java 8 & above, Spring, REST and other related frameworks
•    Building enterprise-scale distributed micro-services system
•    Designing, architecting and driving the development of large features or functionality

What we’re looking for:

•    Graduate / Post graduate degree in Computer Science, or related fields
•    Experience with primarily Engineering and Application Development roles in financial institutions or retail cards domain or technology companies
•    Knowledge of acquisitions end to end journey and specifically understanding of how RFT, Fraud, sanctions and other external systems interact with Core Apply platform
•    Proven IT experience; deep understanding and implementation of IT business strategies

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Understanding of UNIX, cloud and container infrastructure basics
•    Understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL DB architecture and functioning
•    Experience working in a mature DevOps
•    Knowledge and experience with messaging and event technologies like Kafka
