What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at BARKO?
Drives Business Results -
Develop and support assigned off-road machine’s design for total life cycle.
- Lead individual / technical expert on assigned off-road product line of equipment.
- Accountable for product design’s performance, cost, quality, timing and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Lead design responsibility for new products.
- Work with all key stakeholders to develop specifications, project timing, product cost and project budget targets that meet the assigned product lines’ strategic plans.
- Lead development team through innovation, vehicle concept, component selection, design reviews, release, build, validation, and industry standards/regulations compliance plans to meet product definition, performance timeline, cost and budget targets.
- Monitor and report on progress and status of the project against project targets and budget.
- Utilize engineering tools such as: FMEAs, 8D problem resolution process, and risk assessments to validate the design content.
- Ensures project adherence to Barko’s phase-gate product development process.
Lead design responsibility for current products.
- Support data driven investigation, root cause analysis, resolution, and corrective action implementation of customer field issues.
- Support cost reduction initiatives on current product.
- Support resolution of manufacturing related issues.
Functional expert in electro-hydraulic and/or heavy structural weldments.
- In addition to product line responsibilities, individual will also be technical expert in electro-hydraulic and/or structural weldments in support of other product lines.
- Assist in component selection, participate in relevant design reviews, and provide expertise to other Project Engineers / Design Engineers as needed.
Assist in maintenance and enhancement of engineering technical documentation and tools.
- Oversee and participate in the structuring, release, and maintenance of the assigned product lines: bills of materials, published technical specifications, and other related documentation.
- Follow the standards established in the Company Engineering Standards Manual and provide improvements / enhancements.
- Participate in development and review of engineering standards.
- Drive continuous improvement of products and processes.

Experience and Education:
- Experience: 5 years of demonstrated design engineering experience and experience with project management.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Electrical or Hydraulic Engineering required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Leadership: Ability to engage diverse teams of people, provide clear instructions, and effectively manage the team’s performance.
- Passion: Demonstrate genuine passion about leading people and building relationships.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication.
- Technology: Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, Parker IQAN, MS Office and appropriate analytical tools.
