Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.

Direct or coordinate production, processing, distribution, or sales and marketing activities of the plant or business unit.

Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.

Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.

Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff, and resolve personnel issues.

Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records.

Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.

Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.

Initiate or coordinate inventory or cost control programs.

Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree BA/BS from four-year college or university, or equivalent; and over two years up to and including four years’ experience leading a unit or group in a manufacturing environment; or any combination of education, experience and training.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Internet software, Electronic Mail software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Labor Management (LMS/TA) software.

Other Qualifications:
This position requires specific knowledge in the following areas to be successful:
Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods.
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and production methods.
Knowledge of policies and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions. This includes recruitment, selection, training, and promotion regulations and procedures; compensation and benefits packages; labor relations and negotiation strategies; and personnel information systems.
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Knowledge of principles and methods involved in showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategies and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques, and sales control systems.
Knowledge of instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, learning theory, group and individual teaching techniques, design of individual development plans, and test design principles.
