 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Other duties may be assigned.

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.

Complete production work orders by following written or verbal instructions and/or sample assemblies. 

Set-up materials, and operate and tend manually controlled and/or automated manufacturing equipment/machine according to guidelines and work instructions.  Activate machine/equipment to start a production cycle. Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) as needed based on customer/product specifications. Feed raw material to semi-automated machines. Inspect products using measuring tools to ensure conformity to specifications. Check output for mistakes, product flaws and/or product contamination.

Test operation of machines periodically, and report issues to the Supervisor.

Maintain production records of approved and defective units or final products in accordance with work instruction or standard operating procedures. Recordkeeping done manually or by data entry, such as daily production reports, process checklists, timekeeping, scrap & reject results and/or machine time.

Maintain adequate supply of materials needed to perform tasks effectively.

Communicate with supervisor and relevant personnel on the condition of the operation/production and any unusual circumstances or issues to facilitate processes and ensure efficient operations.

Effectively clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.

Actively contribute to continuous process improvement.  Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities; meet training and/or certification requirements of the job, department, product or area as designated/defined in work instructions and quality standards.

Education/Experience:

Sufficient education to meet language, mathematical and reasoning ability requirements and three (3) months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series and numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Perform the four basic arithmetic operations with coins as part of a dollar. Perform operations with units such as cup, pint, and quart; inch, foot, and yard; and ounce and pound.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Basic technology literacy and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Must have the ability to read, understand & interpret computerized panels and/or operate a handheld electronic device.

Physical Demands:

Work requires extended periods of standing or repetitive motion such as gripping, reaching, bending, pushing or pulling. Examples: placement of materials in machine/equipment, packing products in boxes/pallets/shipping containers, placing products on pallets/belts/conveyors, retrieval of products/materials from machines, racks or bin and transferring them to machines, boxes or bins.

This job requires the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) with or without corrective lenses. It also requires sustained mental concentration and visual effort.

This job performs Medium Work. Moving materials & products to & from the work area involves lifting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently up to 10 pounds of force constantly, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects (Example: lifting totes, boxes or material bins from pallets to the work surface, transferring product from bins to boxes, etc.)

Method of operation also requires periodic cross-training & movement from simple assembly to machine operation. 

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud due to the operation of industrial equipment and machinery.

The primary work location for this job is on the production floor which may or may not be climate controlled, has operating industrial machinery and equipment, and movement of materials and people.

Associates may be required to go to/work in areas where the operation of industrial machinery creates noise sufficient to be distracting or prolonged exposure may impact hearing quality. Work may also require associates to be exposed to machines operating at high speeds, or with exposed and rotating gears/parts.

The work environment characteristics described above necessitates the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, closed shoes.  Some work areas require the wearing of a hearing protection, hard hat, face mask, beard cover, respirator, arm covers, long-sleeved shirt, steel-toed shoes and/or galoshes/overshoes. The associate must wear the prescribed personal protective equipment at all times when in designated areas or when using tools, operating machinery and/or handling materials with specific PPE requirements.
