Barnhill Supply is a small but growing company that manufactures and distributes industry-leading chimney products to companies throughout central Kentucky and the surrounding regions. To help propel us into the future, Barnhill Supply is looking for an honest, hard-working, experienced individual to join our team as a Production Planning and Control Specialist.   • Critical thinking with the ability to solve novel problems
  • Attentive to detail, but able to see the big picture
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in manufacturing and order management
  • Creating and maintaining schedules and prioritizing critical path to drive sense of urgency
  • Ability to make sound decisions and think critically when weighing options
  • Versatility to perform a variety of tasks that involve customers, suppliers, and internal team members

The PPC Specialist responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a robust supply chain for direct and indirect materials:

  • Assess sourcing, material planning, and procurement needs and identify priority gaps
  • Perform demand planning to properly forecast material needs and set inventory levels and reorder points
  • Identify supply chain savings opportunities and develop plans to achieve goals
  • Improve supplier diversity and eliminate single-source materials wherever possible
  • Identify and utilize metrics to evaluate performance of suppliers and vendors
  • Manage inventory and make purchases accordingly
  • Strengthen/expand material receiving and inspection process

Develop and manage production schedule and manufacturing plan to meet customer demand:

  • Develop plan to improve visibility of customer demand and production schedule to entire organization
  • Analyze changes in demand and make appropriate adjustments to resources and schedules and effectively communicate changes to necessary stakeholders
  • Coordinate movement of materials with vendors for outside services
  • Coordinate with Production Manager and Customer Service Representatives to manage production down-time for preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades, etc.
  • Interface with distribution team to coordinate timely and successful distribution of products
  • Ensure distribution resources are in place to deliver and ship outbound product on time
  • Work with distribution team and freight carriers to improve success rate and cost of freight shipments

Other cross-functional responsibilities may include:

  • Identification of opportunities and creation of solutions that drive improvement toward team and company objectives
  • Assist with evaluation and implementation of an ERP system and/or other software to drive efficiency and quality by reducing and eliminating redundant/repetitive tasks
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional, continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support customer service representatives and interface with customers as necessary

What you will need:

  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business, Engineering or related fields
  • A strong motivation to grow in your career
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, with particular strength in MS Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Lean manufacturing/Green Belt certification
