School Counselor
Job Posting for School Counselor at Barre City Elementary & Middle School
BCEMS serves students in grades Pre K- 8th grade with approximately 800 students. We are a title I school with approximately 70% of our students that qualify for free or reduced lunch.
We are currently seeking a licensed school counselor. This school counselors responsibilities include providing info to students, parents, staff, counseling students on personal and psychological issues. The school counselor collaborates with staff to identify students in need, advocate for and to develop plans for students well being. Will have access to community resources and will help families coordinate access. School counselors will enhance Social emotional competence.
School counselors work with individuals, groups and families in response to students’ needs including crisis situations. The successful candidate must have: empathy, patients, effective communications, organizational skills, critical thinking, cultural confidence and collaboration. The school counselor works as a team in collaboration with other school counselors, administration, behavior personnel, nurses, teachers and our McKinney Vento Act Liaison. We seek hard working, and passionate candidates that believe all students can be successful.
Job Requirements:
Has or is eligible for a VT teacher License
Citizenship/residency or work visa required
