Accountant and Tax Preparer-Part-time

Barrett Accounting and Tax LLC, a licensed CPA firm, located in Lake Zurich, Illinois, was formed in 2002 with the vision of providing tax and accounting direction to individuals, families, businesses and distressed taxpayers. Our goal is to serve each client with the unique attention they deserve and ensure their satisfaction with the end result. The owner, Arthur Barrett, Licensed CPA, and his staff are committed to deliver business and personal tax preparation services, business accounting and payroll services utilizing Quick Books, and IRS tax representation-think Tax Doctor!

We have an ever-growing and diverse client base, serving those clients in surrounding communities of Lake Zurich, Barrington, Palatine, the greater Chicago vicinity and in various states throughout the United States.

We are searching for an Accountant/Tax Preparer, PART-TIME during non-busy seasons and NEAR FULL-TIME ONLY from January through April. The position could grow into a year-round opportunity for the right employee . This small but growing firm offers many advantages such as employees that care, diverse job tasks and clients, the opportunity to build relationships with those clients and a wide-variety of businesses and good meals during tax season! The position offers discretionary company bonus as well as referral commissions for new clients brought into the practice.

Essential job duties:

· Prepare and review:

o individual and corporate taxes including Partnerships, S-Corporations and Corporations

o compiled financial statements utilizing Quick Books Desktop and Quick Books Online

o state and federal payroll tax returns and state sales tax returns using Intuit Online Payroll

o federal and state annual income tax returns

· Advise clients on a wide variety of tax concerns and offering solutions to their problems

· Assist clients with Quick Books setup and training

Position Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field of study preferred

· CPA certification or EA designation desirable

. IRS PTIN holder

. Experienced user of Intuit Pro Series Professional Tax Software (Strongly Preferred)

. Demonstrated user of Quick Books -desktop and online

· 4 to 6 years of small accounting firm or tax preparation experience preferred

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as needed

· Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented

· Excellent customer service focus

. Demonstrated success in making accounting lemonade out of lemons for distressed clients

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
