Main Responsibilities
...Job Summary: Oversee activities of workers engaged in constructing improvements and inspects work performed by crafts / construction subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications. Plan work for a general construction crew and oversee safety procedures, quality of workmanship, production costs, and employee morale. Oversee project progress and proactively manage to the project schedule and budget. Schedule/direct crew work, prepare work plans, assure quality control, manage/track costs, coordinate equipment and subcontractors, administer safety program, train crew members, and maintain positive owner relations.

Read, interpret and understand all contract documents, bid documents, job specifications and plans. Report plan or specification discrepancies to supervisor as soon as possible.
Continuously makes adjustments to operations and institutes cost savings for the duration of the project.
Assist in building and managing a construction schedule.
Manage work within timetables and complete work in a timely manner.
Figure daily trucking needs and communicate same to superintendent.
Attend project progress meetings as required.
Determine quantities and types of materials, tools, equipment, and labor needed to complete assigned projects.
Communicate quantities, load out times etc. with plant operators.
Lead crews and actively work with them in all phases of construction.
Reinforce a positive work environment to craft labor that motivates excellence with regard to performing individual job duties in a safe and profitable manner.
Ensure work progresses according to construction project schedule and verify that materials and equipment are delivered to the site on time.
Responsible for all other duties, roles and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor(s) or General Superintendent.
ACCOUNTING
Report timely and accurate field quantities (personnel, materials, equipment, etc.) on a daily basis. Ensure they match the project estimate/budget. Ensure that all applicable job files are updated and maintained accurately, including daily logs and records of work performed and materials used.
Accurate and timely reporting and displays a broad knowledge or budget/ estimate knowledge.
Recognize and solve actual and potential problems. Provide information and solutions to Superintendent and assist as necessary in Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information and change orders.
Demonstrates an acute awareness of the work environment and meets the changing needs of the organization with solutions to minimize any loss of time, money or resources.
Complete project detail daily in Heavy Job tracking system and submit with applicable daily paper work.
Tracks and manages all daily timesheets and ensures Company field activity is well documented.
SAFETY
Responsible for insuring the safety of workers, equipment and public at work site.
Responsible for the crew’s observance of all company, client and government rules and regulations on the jobsite.
Coordinates, directs and controls crew activities while in the field and maintains communications with local utility services as needed prior to excavation to ensure forward progress on projects.
Maintains a clear understanding of rules and regulations for the various unions and the Department of Labor.
Act as the first point of contact for all craft employee concerns and works to resolve all issues before they become escalated.
Ensure routine maintenance and care of equipment and company resources. Report vehicle and equipment maintenance requirements to supervisor.
Promptly report all incidents or accidents to supervisors.
