What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elko - Chief Drill Services position at Barrick Gold Corporation?
JOB PURPOSE:
Aim to safely deliver maximum value through orebody knowledge, while ensuring a sustainable business plan. The Chief Drill Services manages NGM MRM contractor drilling fleet, including ensuring all drill programs are executed according to plan and in compliance with all NGM applicable polices as well the key contributor to Drilling Contractor Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities and tasks:
- Owner of contractor management for drilling; which includes providing technical oversite and approval of drilling bids, scope of works, and contract execution for MRM drilling contractors.
- Oversee the drill services teams located at each of sites in NGM with support from site mineral resource managers.
- Responsible for setting minimum standards for drilling and ensuring that they are implemented.
- Owner of drilling safety scorecard, which includes ensuring audits and inspections are carried out according to NGM standards, and leading the team in drilling safety meetings with internal and external partners
- Monitor and review performance against HS&E KPIs, and patterns of behavior within drilling; Take action to improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions
- Leading stakeholder engagement (including geologists, contractors and site operations) to plan future drill programs, and ensure any problems or issues are properly communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee succession planning and develop action plans for individuals to assume critical positions within Drill Services. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in drilling to enable others to improve performance
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High School Education
Experience
- Fifteen (15) years’ relevant experience, including five (5) years’ experience in a similar leadership role
- Strong understanding on drilling contracts, bidding projects, and technical expertise in drilling processes
