Job Description: BW Papersystems is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join our team and contribute to the development and optimization of our innovative projects. As a Co-Op, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, participate in real-world engineering tasks, and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of mechanical engineering. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to apply their classroom knowledge to practical engineering challenges. Duration: This Mechanical Engineering Co-Op position is a 6-month opportunity. We have two terms available, January 2024-June 2024 or June 2024 – December 2024. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with senior engineers to design, analyze, and test mechanical components and systems for various projects. Assist in the creation and modification of detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Participate in brainstorming and problem-solving sessions to develop creative solutions for engineering challenges. Contribute to the design, setup, and execution of experiments and tests to validate mechanical designs and collect data. Assist in conducting research to identify new materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods to enhance product performance and efficiency. Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to evaluate the feasibility and performance of different design concepts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project execution. Support the documentation of engineering processes, specifications, and technical reports. Participate in design reviews and provide valuable insights and recommendations for design improvements. Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all relevant safety guidelines and protocols. Skills & Qualifications: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university Minimum of 1 year of completed college courses with a strong academic record. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent. Good problem-solving skills and a creative mindset to approach engineering challenges. Strong communication and teamwork abilities to effectively collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines. Basic knowledge of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and mechanical testing. Benefits: Hands-on experience working on real engineering projects.
