Job Description:

Barry-Wehmiller's Packaging Machinery Platform, is a $750 million business with more than 2,500 team members in eight countries and more than 25 manufacturing locations around the world. Developed through the acquisition of more than 50 companies over 40 years, it represents the collective capabilities BW Flexible Systems, Pneumatic Scale Angelus, Synerlink, BW Integrated Systems, and Accraply. Through BW Packaging Systems, customers can find more than just a single machine; they can leverage the combined primary packaging, labeling and end-of-line packaging solutions of each of the five Barry-Wehmiller packaging divisions.

Job Summary

We have an exciting new role for an experienced, dynamic, continuous improvement-minded Engineering Leader to serve as our Engineering Excellence Leader. Our core products are highly engineered packaging systems and lines. The success of our business is directly linked to ability to efficiently and effectively deliver engineered solutions to the market. This role will work with engineering leaders in both innovation and value stream engineering across the Packaging platform to ensure we have best in class tools, processes and engineering standards and have a continuous improvement mindset to drive on-going value for the business. This role will partner with Innovation, Value Stream Engineering, IT, Operational Excellence and Supply Chain to develop a clear engineering excellence roadmap and ensure effective deployment across our Packaging Platform Divisions. This individual will also serve as the key liaison to the enterprise for engineering excellence related initiatives.

Responsibilities

Partner with our Packaging Platform and Division based leaders in engineering, IT, operational excellence, and supply chain to build, refine, implement, and continuously improve our engineering processes across the Packaging Platform. Collaborate with platform, divisional and engineering leadership to:

* Create a clear, prioritized engineering excellence roadmap focused on 5 vectors of engineering excellence:
* 3 Focus Areas:
* Engineering Processes
* Engineering Tools
* Engineering Standards

* 2 Engineering Disciplines
* Electrical/Controls
* Mechanical


* Engineering Processes:
* Drive Engineering Efficiency and Quality through implementation of Lean Engineering Best Practices across Packaging's 5 divisions, sites and product lines.
* Develop Effective Engineering Excellence KPIs to drive engineering efficiency, warrantee reduction and effective capacity planning.
* Support/Lead the development of Packaging's Engineering Excellence Team Room/Share Point to share and continuously improve our Engineering excellence best Practices.
* Partner with divisional engineering excellence leaders in defining, aligning, prioritizing, and achieving their objectives.
* Drive development and deployment of our innovation engineering processes. Network with divisional engineering leaders to ensure they are efficient and optimized. Work with Packaging's Innovation Excellence Leader and Digital Innovation Program Manager to effectively leverage our engineering excellence processes to deliver designs complaint with our engineering standards.
* Provide Influential Leadership to our Sold-Work/Value Stream Engineering Teams to help achieve our engineering excellence goals of eliminating waste and reducing engineering Content/ Revenue $.
* Collaborate with cross-platform Engineering Excellence leaders to align and drive enterprise-wide engineering standards.

* Engineering Tools:
* Identify and address engineering tool and process roadblocks that prevent efficient engineering capacity sharing where needed across the packaging platform.
* Define and deploy optimized tools for both our mechanical and controls/electrical engineering teams. Work with IT to map our current tools: CAD, PDM, PLM, ERP etc. Help define our future state and develop the road map to effectively get us there.

* Engineering Standards:
* Lead the packaging platform's engineering standards initiative: develop, implement, and maintain effective electrical, mechanical and documentation standards across the 5 packaging divisions.
* Partner with our divisional product line, engineering, and operational excellence leaders to develop the requisite engineering disciplines and tools to drive effective implementation of our standard configurable design philosophy to reduce engineering content, lead times, product costs and warranty expense.
* Work with Divisional Engineering/Product Safety leads to ensure we consistently deliver solutions that are safe… that protect the lives entrusted to us at our customer sites and within our own company. Serve on enterprise product safety council with the packaging platform divisional safety leads as sponsor for Packaging's safety initiatives.

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
* 10 years' experience/expertise in Engineering Process Leadership coaching and training, to include:
* Electrical and Mechanical CAD, PLM, and ERP systems and processes.
* Modular Programing, Software Best Practices/PackML
* Electrical and Mechanical Standards to drive engineering and operational efficiency, standard parts and common look and feel.
* Machine Safety Directives and Compliance.
* Lean Engineering Practices
* Managing multiple, large, complex initiatives concurrently.
* Experience in engaging multi-discipline internal and external experts.
* Capital Equipment Design and Manufacturing Processes

Skills

* Proven leadership skills, including experience leading without formal authority, building cross-functional relationships, fostering teamwork and engagement, and coaching and developing others.
* Strong interpersonal, organization, collaboration, and communications skills.
* Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
* Smart Sheets/Microsoft Project or other Portfolio & Project Management tools
